The man behind the SCYRYNYX project is Paul Smith.

The inspiration behind the music comes from different sources, but is primarily derived from electronic music and progressive rock. The advent of modern technology has afforded the opportunity to compose and record music from a home-based studio.

The first album was recorded with Peter Challoner under the name Asymmetric. The three most recent albums have been written as solo albums under the name SCYRYNYX.

Work is in progress on a fourth solo album, hopefully to be released by end 2009.
